Set out for Semliki National Park, the eastern most tract of Congo’s Great Ituri Forest. This diverse habitat provides an exceptionally exciting destination for bird watchers with the opportunity to sight even West African bird species in their farthest east habitat. The 440 recorded bird species include over 200 forest birds and 80 central African species found in very few forests on the continent. In addition, visit Semliki’s hot springs with bubbling water, hot enough to cook an egg.
Depart for Mount Elgon National Park, an ideal location for hikes of all levels. Short hikes on the park’s lower trails offer beautiful scenery and a chance to see numerous bird species and small mammals. Longer treks vary in length with the longest taking hikers to Mount Elgon’s summit along the mountain’s challenging trails.Hikers choosing shorter hikes will overnight in the park’s campsite with all meals included.
