Congratulation, you made it to the "Pearl of Africa": Uganda! Upon arrival, be welcomed by our representative at the airport and transfered to your accommodation for a luxurious relaxing evening and overnight. You will stay at the upmarket Victoria Serena Hotel directly at Lake Victoria.
In the early morning, we will head off from Entebbe to Mabira Forest at Griffin Falls. The trip will take approximately three hours. Here we can do some zip-lining. The "Mabira Forest Canopy Super Skyway" is a canopy "zip-line" system that sends you soaring between the tallest trees in the rainforest. You are led to pass through ancient trees by experienced Sky Captains / Sky guides across a network of 5 zip-lines that stretches 250 metres across River Musambya. Using strict international safety standards with imported climbing gears and art high ropes from America, participants are belayed up the first tree, brought through the whole system and repelled on a 78m diagonal zip. High up in the canopy one is able to enjoy a view of the forest layers, mammals like grey cheeked mangabeys and red tailed monkeys, birds like palm nut vultures, African fish eagles, great blue turacos and the roaring griffin falls, making your zip a memorable day! We`ll then have lunch at Griffin Falls before we continue our trip to Jinja for your overnight accommodation at the upperclass Lemala Wild Waters Lodge which is located on Kalagala Island in the River Nile.
After breakfast your first adventure is waiting for you. We will give you a half-day introduction into white water rafting on Africas longest river, the famous Nile. Our partner Adrift has an unparalleled safety record that is both unrivalled and admired for over our 28 years in operation. Join the list of celebrities like Prince William, Ginger Spice, Mikka Hakkinen or Ewan McGregor on this trip. Our experienced guides wild guide you through the rapids of River Nile before you head back to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon we have a challenge for the brave ones. We will do some bungee jumping! Great fun, isn`t it. But no worries, you don`t have to. As an alternativ you can also do River Bugging. Enjoy floating on River Nile in your so called "River Bug", a small inflatable boat. In the late afternoon it`s time for a sundowner before you enjoy your dinner overlooking the waters of River Nile. Lemala- Adrift company is the operator, the Height is approximately 51 meter down into the open space before partly immersing into the Nile River water and the technical equipment include carabiners, ankle harness, blockers, ropes and a safety helmet also trained rescue divers with a boat await for you down the river.
Today we wake up around sunrise, have breakfast and then engage in Tandem Kayaking. Done on "Sit on Top Kayaks" this is a taster as to what white water kayaking is, it gives you the opportunity to interact with the river around you and get a feel for the rapids. You will be guided through some mild white water and might end up for a quick swim in the river, but there will be safety kayakers to help you back into the kayak. A fun, safe and exciting activity. In the late afternoon join us on a horseback riding adventure along the river and into the villages of the area. Or simply pamper yourself with a nice massage in the spa and enjoy the rest of your day. For more experienced riders we can arrange adventurous overnight horseback safaris designed to explore areas that vehicles cannot reach. If your are interested in an additional unique adventure and extend your stay by another day, please let us know and we will customize your trip to your needs.
It’s a fun day, we shall get our mountainbikes and head out cycling to Mabira Forest or a tour around Kalagala. We will have lunch on our way and return in the afternoon to Lemala Lodge to relax off at the accommodation.
Today we shall have our anglers and rods ready to engage in a fun and interesting sport fishing on the River Nile. It's very adventurous and will come as a layback for our Jinja Session. Mix and mingle with the locals to experience local fishing technics and learn about the environnement. For those who are not that much into fishing, we can take you jogging along the River Nile and into small villages. Or you simply enjoy your day in the lodge, visit the Spa and simply relax, it`s holiday! In the late afternoon we will hop on a private yacht for a sundowner cruise on the river with wines and beer as you watch the sunset over the Nile. Treat yourself with some luxury before again a fantastic dinner is waiting for you to round of this day.
Time to say Goodbye to Africas longest river. After breakfast we hread off to Mount Elgon at the border to Kenya. The trip takes about six hours with lunch on the way. In the aftrenoon we will reach our next stop, the Sipi Heritage Lodge where we spend the night. You will stay in a "Waterfall Cottage" with en suite bathroom. You can enjoy the view to the waterfalls from your comfy bed or even the bathroom. Take the afteroon off or explore the area a little bit, the rest of the day is for leisure.
Get your hiking boots ready, we are off to Mount Elgon. After a good breakfast we start our hike early morning. And again, we have an adventures for the brave ones: We will do abseiling down Sipi Falls longest waterfall. But no worries, it`s "only" a hundred meters and quite fun. Okay, to be honest, I`ve done it before and almost shit my pants. So here`s the alternative: We will take you on a coffee tour to one of the small local coffee plantations. Here you learn more about planting and harvesting coffee and then will go throught the whole process of making your own cup of real organic ugandan coffee. There`s also the possibility to explore the caves around Mount Elgon and the Sipi Falls if you like.
After two adventurous days we leave Mount Elgon and head back to Kampala for an overnight stay. The trip will take about seven hours, one our way we will have an authentic local lunch along the way. Try some Posho, beef stews, beans & spinach and don`t worry that there`s no cutlery - dining like a local means use your fingers, well ... if you like. In Kampala we stay at the upmarket "Latitude 0 Degrees" Hotel where you can relax off the evening. If you like, treat yourself in the Spa, do some work out in the gym or hop into the swimming pool. But don`t miss the sunset from the terrace or the rooftop bar overlooking the city of Kampala and Lake Victoria.
This morning we will leave Kampala as early as possible and hit the road to our next destination the Lake Mburo National Park. We will pass the equator where we will stop for some pictures and memories. Congratulation, your are now in the southern hemisphere! On our way to Lake Mburo we will have some fast lunch on our way to reach the national park in time for an evening game drive. It`s really a unique experience as there is a whole variety of animals that you would not see in the day including bush pigs, genet cat and white tailed mongoose to mention but a few. Night drives also give you the best chance of finding leopards, spotted hyena and there is one male lion in the park who resides down by Lake Mburo itself. It is an interesting experience out at night with a spotlight, an unusual twist on your regular game drives. where we shall see the predators of this area (leopards) at night.
The next two days you can enjoy various activities already included in your trip. Engage in horseback riding safaris, bicycle safaris or do some active jogging in the wild, while interacting with wildlife and nature. Getting closer to the animals without sitting in a 4x4 vehicle is such an amazing experience, you will never forget. No worries, naturally you will be guided by experienced rangers. Always a great adventure is a bush walk into a nationalpark. The most popular walks go from the lodge itself or along the swamps bordering Lake Mburo. From the lodge a two-hour loop will take you around the valleys and ridges you see from the dining room and deliver you back to the lodge. The swamp walk has a couple of raised platforms from where you can look over the swamps; if you are very lucky you may even see a Sitatunga or the endemic bird species -African Fin Foot. A sunset cruise on the Lake is probably the best possibility to round up the day and is the best way to see the lake and its inhabitants. It is particularly good for water birds (especially African Finfoot and Fish Eagles, Egrets) but you will also come across hippos, crocodiles and other animals coming down for a drink.
Another adventurous day at the Muhingo Lodge starts with a good breakfast and an amazing view over the national park. Choose an activity ... or be lazy, it`s all up to you. The big infinity pool overlooking the national park is as appealing as just relaxing in the tower for a jolly good time. But we really recommend going with Ralph & Iddy on a horseback safari, as it`s also suitable for beginners. The most exhilarating ride in the park for more experienced riders is a 4 to 5 hour ride which takes you onto the grassy Warukiri range of hills that are situated in the middle of the park. From high on the Warukiri ridge there are stunning 360 degree views of the surrounding hills and valleys in the Park. On the furthest hill you will find a waterhole, where you just might see a herd of buffalo enjoying the cool air. There is a magnificent view onto 9 of the 12 small lakes surrounding Lake Mburo National Park. This ride changes the whole feeling of Lake Mburo National Park as it is absolutely spectacular.
We will leave the fantastic Muhingo Lodge as early as possible and drive back to the buzzling city of Kampala. Again, we cross the Equator Point before we reach Kampala in the late afternoon. We hope you still have enough energy to join us on a unique and exquisite nightlife tour. We will hop on a private party bus, equipped with a well-stocked bar and your own DJ and head off to town. We will stop where you like it, jump into a bar for a drink, stop at a night club or simply cruise around downtown Kampala.
In the early morning aroung 5:30am .... no no, just kidding ;-). After last night’s party tour, we think it`s a good idea to have a later breakfast. But it`s up to you. Today we`ll explore Ugandas capital by day. We have a lot to unfold in the city, such as the Uganda Museum, the Bahai Temple, Mosques, Downtown and Uptown, and the Buganda Royal Tombs at Kasubi while unveiling a lot of history, cultures, and activities here. In the afternoon we are back at the Speke Resort Munyonyo to relax, grab a drink and enjoy your last dinner in Uganda.
Now it`s unfortunately time to say Goodbye. Depending on your flight we will bring you to the close by Entebbe International Airport for your departures. If you like to extend your stay in Kampala, please let us know so we can plan your trip accordingly. We hope you had a great time in Uganda, the "Pearl of Africa" and we might see us sometime somewhere for your next unique adventure beyond safaris.
