This 4 day/3 nights Gorillas and Golden Monkey Safari gives you the unmatched experience with the rare Mountain Gorillas coming face to face with the golden primates which is a magical moment.This safari starts from Entebbe/Kampala driving to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the Gorillas in Rushaga sector, and on to Mgahinga National Park– from where you will be able enjoy a thrilling visit with the unique Golden Monkeys and this will be the trip of your Lifetime.
After breakfast, meet up with your private Agasaro Safari guide and drive approx. 9-10 hours to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south-western Uganda, have a stopover enroute at the Uganda Equator for a quick coffee break and photo opportunity at the 0 degree latitude. Proceed through the picturesque local towns to Mbarara city where you will have a stopover for lunch and stretch your legs at Igongo Cultural Centre before proceeding to your destination and arriving in time for dinner.
Overnight at Chameleon Hill Lodge.
Following breakfast at the lodge, travel to National Park Headquarters to meet your guides for the day and begin your gorilla tracking experience. Experienced guides and trackers will accompany your party on an early morning trek into the dense rain forest on the mountain slopes. The journey, through dense foliage and up steep climbs, is abundantly rewarded with the lifetime experience of viewing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. You will have an opportunity to be within meters of these magnificent apes, sharing in their daily lives and experiencing their day-to-day activities. Mountain gorillas are extremely rare with only an estimated 880 remaining in the wild. This is an experience you won’t soon forget!
Overnight at Chameleon Hill Lodge
After an early breakfast, drive for approx. 1 hr to Mgahinga National Game Park to meet your guides for the day and begin your golden monkey experience. The golden Monkey is endemic specie of blue Monkeys that live in the high altitude forests of the Volcanoes National Park. This endemic specie of monkeys is commonly known to exist in the Volcanoes forest and Mgahinga forest in Uganda. Though viewing is kept to a maximum of one hour, you can get an up-close look at the golden monkey in its natural habitat. Take pictures of the monkeys as they play from the tree branches.
Village Community Walk / boat cruise on Lake Mutanda (Optional)
Embark on a community walk through the local villages surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or a sunset boat cruise on Lake Mutanda if time permits. Optional activities are easily tailored to your individual schedule and interests.
Overnight at Chameleon Hill Lodge
On this day you can either choose to fly on the domestic flight from Kisoro Airstrip to Entebbe (1 hr. flight) or drive for approx. 9-10 hrs. From Chameleon Hill Lodge to Entebbe/ Kampala with a stopover for lunch in Mbarara city.
