Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival (JRO → Moshi)

  • Meet our representative at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
  • Transfer to your Moshi hotel; evening briefing with expedition manager

Day 2: Moshi → Machame Gate (1,800 m) → Machame Camp (2,850 m)

  • Drive (~1.5 hrs) to Machame Gate; registration & lunch
  • Trek 7 km through montane forest to Machame Camp

Dinner & overnight in North-Face VE-25 tents

Day 3: Machame Camp → Shira Cave (3,750 m)

  • 7 km (5 hrs) ascent into moorland
  • Lunch at Shira Cave; afternoon acclimatization & summit views of Western Breach

Cold night at high altitude

Day 4: Shira Cave → Lava Tower (4,600 m) → Barranco Camp (3,900 m)

  • 11 km (7 hrs) through semi-desert to Lava Tower for lunch
  • Descend 700 m to Barranco Camp below the Great Barranco Wall

Day 5: Barranco Camp → Karanga Valley (3,995 m) → Barafu Camp (4,667 m)

  • 10 km (8 hrs) ridge traverse over Barranco Wall to Karanga Valley
  • Lunch, then continue upward to Barafu Camp

Rest & dinner in the alpine desert

Day 6: Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) → Mweka Camp (3,100 m)

  • Summit push: start ~2300 hrs, ascend 14 km via Stella Point (5,757 m) at sunrise
  • Brief summit stay; descend to Barafu for rest, then continue to Mweka Camp

Dinner & overnight stay in the upper rainforest

Day 7: Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate (1,980 m) → Moshi/Arusha

  • 3 hrs downhill to park gate; receive summit certificate (Gold for Uhuru, Green for Stella)
  • Celebrate with crew; transfer to hotel in Moshi or Arusha for dinner & overnight

Day 8: Departure

  • Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your outbound flight
