5 DAYS QUEEN ELIZABETH AND KIBALE FOREST SAFARI

This 5 day / 4 night driving safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kibale Forest National Park is a fabulous safari – specially designed for those who are short of time, but want to see the magical savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park and the teeming rainforest of Kibale Forest.This safari includes enough time to explore the savannah wilderness of the park in both a open roofed safari vehicle and luxury boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel with 2 nights at Bush Lodge, and thereafter to Kibale Forest National Park for 2 nights at Turaco Treetops. This forest is alive with birds, apes, primates and even small antelope.Uganda boasts some of the best bird watching in Africa, with over 1000 different species, including the rare shoebill and the remarkable grey crowned crane. DAY ONE

Meet your Agasaro guide and vehicle hotel in Kampala/Entebbe and drive for approx. 7-8hrs to Mweya sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.Queen Elizabeth National Park spreads over 1,978 sq. km in the western arm of the Great Rift Valley and is home to a wide variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, hippos, buffalo, Uganda kob, baboon, and many species of birds. With both riverine and savannah habitats, the park includes the southern Ishasha area with its tree climbing lions and Maramagambo, one of the largest surviving natural forests in Uganda. The northern Mweya area, traversed by the equator and dominated by the scenery of crater lakes, is often occupied by large flocks of flamingos. A boat trip from Mweya along the Kazinga Channel, which joins Lakes Edward and George, provides one of the most memorable experiences offered by the park.

DAY TWO

Enjoy a morning game drive in the park.In the afternoon enjoy a scheduled boat cruise along the spectacular Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park. You may encounter herds of elephant, buffalos and antelopes, families of warthogs, large groups of hippos, and crocodiles basking on the shore. Kazinga’s shores are a haven for numerous birds, including many migratory species as they make their way south to warmer climates. The cruise also provides a remarkable view of the beautiful Mweya Peninsula and life in local fishing villages set along the banks.

DAY THREE

This morning enjoy a game drive in the park and in the afternoon depart and drive for approx. 4hrs to Kibale Forest National Park.Kibale National Park, known for its superb chimpanzee tracking and bird watching, is home to over 60 different mammal species. With the greatest variety and concentration of primates of any forest in East Africa, the 766 sq. km park extends south from Fort Portal all the way to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Dominated by tropical forest, interspersed with patches of grassland and swamp, the park reaches altitudes of 1100-1590 meters. This diverse habitat and climate provides the perfect environment for Kibale’s rich primate populations including nine diurnal primates. Visitors to the park have the opportunity to encounter Vervet, red tail, H’oest and blue monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, red and black and white colobus, olive baboon, chimpanzees and a wide variety of birds and other mammals.

DAY FOUR

Drive to National Park Headquarters to meet your guides for the day and begin your chimpanzee tracking experience.Experienced guides and trackers will accompany your party on an early morning trek into the forest to view wild chimpanzees as well as several other species of primates in their natural habitat. You will have an opportunity to be within meters of these amusing and very social apes, sharing in their daily lives and experiencing their day-to-day activities. Chimpanzees, our closest cousins, are extremely endangered with only an estimated 5000 remaining in Uganda.In the afternoon, visit the Bigodi Swamp and the nearby community

DAY FIVE

After breakfast, depart Kibale Forest and drive approx. 6-7 hours to Kampala/Entebbe and drop off at Entebbe airport to connect to your International departure flight.
